How do I get there? Where are you?
We are in Brechin, just off the A90 between Dundee and Aberdeen. Please see our Find Us page for more information.
When are you open?
We are open on weekends during the summer & other selected dates throughout the year. See our What's On page for dates.
What services are you operating?
We run train services suitable for all ages. Please visit our What's On page for more details.
How do I buy tickets?
Tickets for all of our services can be purchased in advance or on the day at our ticket offices. To buy advanced sale tickets for our services, please visit our What's On page and select the desired service.
Do you have parking?
Yes, we have off street car parks at both stations. Disabled parking is in the smaller car park next to Brechin station.
NOTE: Please be aware that during some special events, the main car park may be closed to accomodate additional attractions.
I have booked the wrong train. Can I change this?
Please contact us to discuss your booking.
I've missed my train. What do I do?
If you have missed your allocated train departure time, please speak to ticket office staff.
I left something on one of your trains. How do I reclaim it?
Any found items left on our trains or in our stations will be available for collection for up to 3 months after being handed in. After this time, the items will be destroyed.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are welcome on most daytime services. We unfortunately cannot allow dogs onto any services that involve food or drink (e.g. Murder Mystery, Gin Tasting etc.). Dogs may be allowed to travel at certain special events - please contact us for details.
Dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times. On our trains, dogs must not sit on seats/tables and must be kept on the floor. Any mess created must be cleaned up by the owner.
How do I get involved and become a volunteer?

Can I look inside your sheds or walk on the track?
No. In the interests of safety and security, please be aware that we DO NOT allow any public access to our storage sheds, workshops or onto the track/lineside. All customers must remain on the platforms and other specified public access areas at all times. Any person(s) found to be in breaching these rules may be asked to leave the railway.
Can I just look in the door to your shed if I don't take any pictures? I've only come to see one loco.
No. We DO NOT allow access to our sheds for any reason.
There's a loco/vehicle in a siding that I want a picture of. Can I walk down the track to see it? I'll wear my hi-vis vest.
No. We DO NOT allow access onto our tracks or lineside for any reason. Any persons found to be trespassing on the track may be asked to leave the railway.
Can I visit the railway outwith opening times?
Unless this has been arranged prior to your visit, we cannot allow visitor access to the railway outwith the advertised opening times. Limited access onto the platform outwith opening hours at Brechin station is available to customers of The Whistle Stop only.
Is there disabled access?
Yes, our trains and stations are all wheelchair accessible.
At Brechin station, disabled access is via the large yellow gates onto Platform 1.
At Bridge of Dun, disabled access is via the platform ramp into the car park.
All of our trains have disabled access saloons which are accessible via a ramp carried onboard the train. Please speak to the train guard to use this facility.
What facilities do you have?
The Whistle Stop Coffee Shop at Brechin Station serves a selection of locally sourced food, drinks and home baking. Please see their Facebook page for opening times and more information.
The BufferStop Buffet at Bridge of Dun serves a selection of snacks and hot & cold drinks. We also have a gift shop at Brechin station. Please note that these services are only available when we have scheduled train services. Find out when the railway is next open by visiting our What's On page.
There are toilets available at both stations. Please be aware that there are no toilets on the train.
Please note that due to limited staff availabilities, the buffet outlet at Bridge of Dun & Brechin Gift Shop may be closed or operating on reduced opening times during your visit. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
I have some railway related items that I would like to donate. How do I do this?
We welcome donations to the railway. If you would like to make a donation, please contact us to arrange this.
NOTE: Please be aware that we are unable to accept old magazines, video tapes and DVD's, unless they are specifically related to the railway and its history.
