Meet Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends, who are waiting to meet you at the Caledonian Railway! Experience a train journey behind a real steam engine, and meet The Fat Controller. All activites and rides are included in your ticket price.

We will have an array of rides and attractions for you to enjoy, from fairground rides and bouncy castles to face painting and story telling from Rusty and Dusty - Sodor's two mischievous station cleaners.

What's included with your ticket

There are plenty of activities to keep the family entertained for the whole day - ALL included in the ticket price:

  • A return journey behind Thomas the Tank Engine (20 minutes either direction, stopping at both stations).

  • Classic bus rides (only available to passengers in possession of open return tickets)

  • A Passport to Friendship full of activites for children to do throughout the day with a sticker on completion

All transactions are subject to a non-refundable 0.75p transaction fee and a non-refundable 10% booking fee (8% on family discount).

Further Information

Brechin Station is the main venue for the attractions and your day should be planned with the greater part of your stay at this station.

You must have a valid ticket to enter. For security reasons, we cannot allow access to the site for any reason without a valid ticket.

Journey Types

There are two types of journey available - Direct Return and Open Return. Please ensure you are choosing the correct journey type when booking your tickets and that you attend the correct station on the day.

Direct returns begin at Brechin station only. Open returns should only be purchased if you intend to use the classic bus service.

How do Direct and Open Returns work?

Direct Returns; Board the train at Brechin, travel to Bridge of Dun and then you get the same train back. Example: 10.20 train from Brechin, return on 10.50 train from Bridge of Dun.

Open Returns; Open returns allow you to use the classic bus service at Bridge of Dun station. Board the train at the station and departure time indicated on your ticket, travel to the other station and then return on any train time. Example: 12.00 train from Bridge of Dun, return on 14.55 train from Brechin.

Seating Types

Standard Seating: These are arranged in bays of 4, typically around a table. All tickets purchased have an allocated seat. Standard seating is available in Coaches C, D & E.

Private Compartments: Enclosed vestibule that seats up to 8 people. This is covered by one ticket and is only available for Direct Returns. Private compartments are available in Coaches A & B.

Disabled Saloon: A modified section of the train capable of wheelchair access. Please note that this the only section of the train that is wheelchair accessible and is only available as a direct return from Brechin. The disabled access saloon is in Coach B.

How long will the train journey be?

Journey times between stations is 20 minutes. The train will stop at Bridge of Dun station for 10 minutes and Brechin station for 20 minutes.

Parking

Brechin: On street parking with very limited off street parking at the station.

Bridge of Dun: Small car park at the station.

Facilities

At Brechin Station there is a shop with lots of Thomas goodies, a picnic area and a Buffet serving hot and cold food, also tea, coffee, soft drinks, also BBQ. Station opens at 9:30am and closes at 4:30pm. Entry to Brechin Station is by train ticket only.

Bridge of Dun station has picnic tables. Classic bus service, more details below. Bridge of Dun is open from 10:00am until 3:30pm. Free car parking on site.

Please note: We are unable to take card payments at Bridge of Dun Station. Cards payments can be made at Brechin Station Ticket Office, Gift Shop and buffet.
